LIST OF THE MAIN SONGS AND THEIR GENRES

ACT 1

1. Overture: An orchestral medley of songs from the musical.
2. She’ll Be Here: A bright, sparkly children’s song written for the Fairy Folk.
3. Another World: A “want” song in the music theatre genre sung by the young heroine Mirabelle. Lush orchestration.
4. Straightjacket Blues: A funky, jazz song by young Mirabelle and her fellow students as they prepare to go to school.
5. I’m An Alien Too: A fast paced song with the Older Mirabelle, her socially challenged friend Thomas and the Fairy Folk-celebrating their differences, plus fun sound effects including Alien Voices.
6. Sly’s Revenge: An upbeat song with the antagonist Sly singing his own words juxtaposed against a group of teenagers singing harmonies.
7. Tell Me How Much Longer: Slower solo from Mirabelle with harpsicord accompaniment and other orchestral instruments.
8. It’s a Party: A rock song by Mirabelle’s teenage friends celebrating her 16th Birthday Party.

ACT 2

9. Down-A-Down-A: A young person’s solo in troubadour style with guitar accompaniment only. (Character is Cabanossi, the gnome)
10. Maybe I Can Help: A richly orchestrated waltz solo by Mirabelle’s mother Annie.
11. It’s Everybody’s Fault: A funky rap song with fun sound effects, performed by Mirabelle’s overly dramatic girlfriends.
12. Here I Am As I Am: Mirabelle’s power ballad as she eagerly anticipates her new life in her new world.
13. Your Spirit Has Called: An ambient music duet between Adama, (Leader of the Crystal City of Telos) and Mirabelle.
14. Realm of Light: A beautiful, richly orchestrated love duet between Mirabelle and her soul mate Romandahl.
15. Awp-La-La-La: The children of Telos welcoming Mirabelle, sung in harmony in bright, calypso style.
16. Clarion Call: The final rousing chorus with the entire cast. Music in the style of Irish Riverdance.

Dear Ari,

What an incredible undertaking this has been for you:-WELL DONE.

You have given an enormous part of your life for this project & used your talents of musical prowess and script writing to create an uplifting musical which will positively impact many lives-AND IT’S FUN!!!

How enriching it has all been!

Heartfelt congrats on seeing this all through- (lots of tribulations & joys I am sure).

A K-12 resource on the issues facing children and young people today.

“Crystal Dreaming” is a valuable teaching resource for Primary and High School and can be linked to Curriculum items in English, Music, Drama and PDHPE.

“Crystal Dreaming” covers relevant issues for children including: Family Separation, Parenting, Siblings, School, Homework, Peers, Disability, Friendship, Bullying, Imagination, Bravery.

“Crystal Dreaming covers relevant issues for young people including: Loneliness, Relationships, Identity, Independence, Responsibility, Disability, Daring to Dream, Being True to Oneself.

The fabric of this musical is very rich.

You had faith in me from the beginning and for your ongoing support I am forever grateful.

It has been our pleasure to have known and intermittently worked with Ariana Shneider over the past 30 years.

A dedicated teacher of Voice, Music and Drama, Ariana is a true professional.

Not only has she guided hundreds of young and not-so-young people to achieve their maximum artistic potential, but she has also performed in numerous musical and dramatic theatre productions as well as performing as a volunteer on many special community and civic occasions.

She has been the recipient of grant funds for a number of creative cultural initiatives and has project managed all of these to successful fruition.

Ariana is talented, creative and absolutely committed to building a brighter cultural future for us all.

I will always remember the feeling of joy and exhilaration that my whole body felt as I stood with the entire audience to give a standing ovation to Ariana Shneider’s musical “Crystal Dreaming”.

I also remember thinking “this should be performed at the Sydney Opera House”.

The feelings of joy came from not only the incredible music but also the storyline which seemed to open my mind to other realities.

It is a musical for the young and the young at heart. I recommend it to everyone.
